Sam Neufeld

Sr. Associate, Venture Capital

Sam joined Heartland Ventures in 2026 as a Senior Associate on the investing team. In this role, Sam focuses on sourcing, evaluating, and supporting startups.

Prior to joining Heartland, Sam spent two years as an Investment Analyst at Future Energy Ventures, a $600M+ AUM VC fund focused on early-stage energy and industrial software. Previously, Sam was an Investment Fellow at SOSV, a $1.5B AUM generalist VC fund.

Before starting his career in venture, Sam was a consultant for the Indian Government's National Program for AI, where he designed a first-of-its-kind public-private financing vehicle to support Indian startups pioneering emerging technologies. He was also an operator at OpenGov, a GovTech startup backed by a16z, 8VC, and Founders Fund, which was later acquired for $1.8B in 2024. Most recently, Sam founded a TechBio startup focused on building data infrastructure to support AI-enabled R&D in the biopharma industry.

Sam earned his B.A. in International Relations from Pitzer College, a member of the Claremont Colleges.

Sam recently returned to his native New York after spending the last decade living in California, India, Israel, Germany, and the Philippines. Outside of work, Sam enjoys reading fiction.
